Foreclosure Mediation Bill Signing at HDF with Governor Malloy

Foreclosure Bill Signing at HDF with Governor Malloy On Tuesday, August 13th, Governor Malloy commemorated the passage of a new foreclosure law, Public Act 13-136, with a ceremonial bill signing at HDF’s very own Stamford office. He was joined by Senator Leone, Senator Crisco, Representative William Tong, Representative Billie Miller and a number of other housing advocates. We were thrilled to be hosting this event, as the law works toward streamlining the foreclosure mediation process. Governor Malloy toured our office and met our staff with President and CEO Joan Carty. He then spoke on the issue of stable housing and foreclosure mediation, saying, “We need to do everything we can to ensure that homeowners facing foreclosure get fair and honest treatment – this new law holds banks accountable for their actions throughout the process. Everyone involved benefits when people who can afford to stay in their house are allowed to do so.” Current HDF foreclosure intervention client, Jerome Murray, also spoke at the event, presenting his experience with HDF’s foreclosure intervention program.
