Fairfield County Community Foundation Grants HDF $25K to Support Hard Working Families on their Journey to Becoming Homeowners

STAMFORD, CT — This June the Fairfield County Community Foundation awarded Housing Development Fund (HDF) with a $25,000 grant to support their First-Time Homebuyer Counseling Program. The program enhances economic opportunity for its clients, providing free counseling and guidance to help low-and moderate-income households become prepared to purchase a home.

The First-Time Homebuyer Program helps prospective buyers get ready to purchase with the following services, all free of charge; Mortgage Readiness Assessment, One-on-One Counseling,, and Homebuyer Education Classes. The process helps develop action steps to correct credit problems, increase savings, reduce debt, and move towards homeownership. The multilingual counselors have helped over 7,300 families in the long and often arduous process of purchasing a first home and over 1,600 people have become homeowners through HDF. The counselors are there for the homebuyers for as long as the process takes.
