Fairfield County’s Community Foundation has pledged $10,000 to support hardworking families achieve the American Dream of owning their own home.
STAMFORD, CT – The Housing Development Fund is pleased to continue our strong partnership with Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF)! Over the years FCCF has shown its unwavering support of our First-Time Homebuyers program, and they have continued to show their dedication this year with a grant donation of $10,000. With their support, HDF will be able to provide free homebuying counseling and education services, as well as low-interest downpayment assistance loans that will help low-and moderate-income families achieve their goals of owning a safe, affordable home.
The comprehensive services provided by The First-Time Homebuyer Program seek to put our clients’ needs first. Our education courses help prospective buyers get ready to purchase with the following services, all free of charge: Mortgage Readiness Assessment, One-on-One Counseling, and Homebuyer Education Classes. These programs help develop action steps to correct credit problems, increase savings, reduce debt, and move towards homeownership. Additionally, to our mortgage ready clients, HDF offers both SmartMove CT and SmartMove NY. Both SmartMove products provide low interest downpayment assistance for up to 20% of the purchase price. Our multilingual counselors are there for homebuyers through education and counseling to closing, helping over 6,700 families in the long and often arduous process of purchasing a first home. To their credit, over 2,900 people have become homeowners through HDF. We promise to be here for our community as long as the process takes.
