Buying a home in New Haven just got more affordable!
Along with Wells Fargo, NeighborWorks America, and Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven, the Housing Development Fund is bringing HomeLIFT to New Haven.
On August 27th and 28th, 2015, interested New Haven home buyers gathered at the Omni Hotel in downtown New Haven for a two-day HomeLIFT Launch. Potential borrowers were prequalified for first mortages, assessed for HomeLIFT eligibility, and learned more about additional downpayment assistance available to them from the Housing Development Fund and other local agencies.
HomeLIFT provides eligible borrowers with $15,000 in forgivable, 0% interest downpayment assistance for homes purchased in the New Haven area. All HomeLIFT borrowers will receive expert homebuyer counseling and education from NHS of New Haven. Many HomeLIFT borrowers may be eligible for additional downpayment assistance programs, including HDF’s SmartMove and Live Where You Work programs and our Landlord Enterpreneurship Affordability Program.
