HDF is pleased to announce that we now offer downpayment and closing cost assistance in the five boroughs of New York City and in Putnam County, NY.
Since HDF began lending in New York state in 2014, the organization has helped over 27 families and individuals to purchase their first home, investing more than $1.5 million in downpayment assistance and leveraging over $5.8million in first mortgages in the state. With an expanded service area and new downpayment assistance programs for first time homebuyers, HDF is poised to help even more to come.
“We are so pleased that we are able to offer downpayment assistance to even more homebuyers in New York State,” says HDF’s director of residential lending, Kelly Almanzar. “I’m particularly excited that we’re now able to help homebuyers in my hometown, the Bronx!”
The lending programs available in New York State include:
- SmartMove NY: Low interest downpayment assistance for NY first time homebuyers. For up to 20% of the purchase price.
- Project Reinvest: Homeownership: 0% downpayment assistance for homebuyers in CT and NY. $10,500.
- NY Statewide Downpayment Assistance Program: 0% downpayment assistance for first time homebuyers. Up to $10,000.
Recipients of these loan programs must receive one on one counseling and homebuyer education from HDF – either in person or over the phone – or from one of our New York partner counseling agencies.
Our New York State Counseling Partners currently include CDC of Long Island, Long Island Housing Partnership, Community Housing Innovations, Human Development Services of Westchester, NHS of NYC, and Westchester Residential Opportunities. Agencies offering homebuyer counseling and education services can partner with HDF to connect their clients with downpayment assistance funding.
