Buying a home is simpler than ever thanks to HDF!

On Friday, July 18, 2014, the Housing Development Fund partnered with six local banks in an effort to bring counseling and lending services to the community. Along with partner banks, HDF set up stations at Western Connecticut State University for an all-day event designed to bring members of the community closer to homeownership. Participants were able to receive free credit reports, speak with bankers as well as HDF counselors, and, if ready, get pre-qualified for mortgage loans and HDF assistance.

Participating banks included: Savings Bank of Danbury, Chelsea Groton Bank, Newtown Savings Bank, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, First County Bank, and Union Savings Bank. Find out more about partnering with HDF!

Mayor Mark D. Boughton stopped by the event in support the local banks and HDF staff who came to reach out to the Danbury community. Realtors and attorneys also donated their time to meet with future homeowners. Education materials and First-Time Homebuyer orientation information were made accessible all day.

On their way out, nearly every participant reported being closer to homeownership after the event, making into a reality HDF’s goal of bringing you #HDFHome.

In addition to free homeownership counseling and education, HDF offers a variety of attractive loan products to qualified buyers. Find out more about HDF’s First Time Homebuyer program here!
